Shingleback - Australia
Like most winemakers John Davey: Owner, Viticulturist & Senior Winemaker of Shingleback adheres to the
adage that "great wine begins in the vineyard" but few winemakers can claim the enviable position that John enjoys
today - that of overseeing winemaking from vine to bottle, an advantage that John believes gives the Shingleback
portfolio a competitive edge. The McLaren Vale region is located 45 minutes south of Adelaide, the capital city
of South Australia. The area is bound to the south by the Sellick's Hill range, extends east to Clarendon, reaches
to the north just beyond Reynella and is bordered on the west by the waters of the Gulf St. Vincent. First planted
with vines in the 1830's, McLaren Vale is best known today for its internationally acclaimed rich, flavorful
Shiraz but also is gaining recognition for its Grenache.
FEATURED WINE: 2005 Grenache McLaren Vale
Made from 100% Grenache. Overall this Grenache is a great representation of McLaren Vale Grenache. It's soft and
supple in texture, but with plenty of body to hold it above the more ordinary examples of this variety. The wine
pours a brilliant dark cherry red. An aroma redolent of ripe strawberries and raspberries is enhanced by subtle
vanilla and oak. The concentrated flavors of raspberries and dark cherries are integrated with soft, silky tannins
and a classically sweet Grenache mid-palate. A ripe, medium-full bodied wine with a long fruit finish which will
enhance a variety of foods.
Bodegas Sierra Virgen - Spain
Bodegas Sierra Virgenis located in Villarrubia de los Ojos right near Ciudad Real in central Spain. Bodegas
Sierra Virgen's objective has been the production and distribution of high-quality wine and olive oil made from
their own vineyards and olive groves, in adherence with the principles of sustainability farming in Vinos de la
Tierra de Castill. This region is located in central Spain, the Spain of Don Quixote, noted for its hot, arid
plains. The Vinos de la Tierra de Castill was formed in 1999 to take in those areas outside of the several D.O.s
in the area. The region as a whole has 600,000 hectares (1.48 million acres) of vineyards, which represents nearly
6% of the world's vineyards.
FEATURED WINE: 2008 Don QuiX Red Blend
Don Quixote, or Don QuiX for short, had an adventurous spirit in search of the uncommon. In honor of this famous
knight-errant, Vino de la Tierra de Castill created this bold blend of 70% Tempranillo and 30% Syrah from the La
Mancha region of central Spain. The is dark ruby red color in the glass. Primary dark berry and plum aromas are
infused with by vanilla. Tarry cherry and cassis flavors are gently tannic and finish sweet. Straightforward,
ready to drink and tasty. Drink now through 2011. Pair with roast meats, stews, paella, and creamy cheeses.
Pothana Vineyards - Australia
Australian winemaker David Hook makes Big Mouth wines at his Pothana Vineyard in New South Wales. Pothana is
located in the Belford region of the Lower Hunter Valley, which has become famous for world class Chardonnay,
Semillon, Shiraz, Verdelho, and increasingly in recent years Viognier. Hook fashions both a red and a white Big
Mouth from the region's most successful grape varieties. David Hook has over 20 years' experience in grape growing
and winemaking. He began his wine career working for Tyrrells, one of Australia's oldest wineries, before moving
on to a stint at Lake Folly. He established his own winery in 1990. David was one of the first
"flying winemakers" as he made wine at his own winery and then traveled from Australia to work harvests in
California, Italy and France. This global experience exposed him to a myriad of wines and winemaking techniques,
and it has helped him make some truly fascinating wines.
FEATURED WINE: 2006 Big Mouth White
Made from 60% Verdelho, 20% Viognier, and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. This popular wine has exciting aromas of citrus and
gooseberry and is fresh and crisp on the palate exhibiting mild tropical fruit flavors. A slight herbal touch and
a citrus snappiness of refreshing acidity at the end are pleasantly persistent. The Verdelho compliments the
Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc perfectly, adding weight and roundness for a lingering finish. Drink now through
2011. This versatile wine will pair an assortment of Chinese, French, Greek, Spanish, Thai and Vegetarian
cuisines.

Marquis Philips - Australia
Marquis Philips is collaboration between Australian winemakers Sarah and Sparky Marquis and USA importer Dan
Philips to produce exceptional wines. Sparky and Sarah Marquis were the winemakers at Fox Creek when they met U.S.
importer Dan Philips. The Marquises left to become consulting winemakers as soon as Fox Creek expanded. Philips
worked with them on a number of projects, including Henry Drive, Parsons Flat, and most recently Shirvington,
another standout new wine from McLaren Vale. The mythological creature appearing on the front label is the Roogle
(a kangaroo/eagle) representing the lasting friendship and the shared destiny that link Australia and the US.
The philosophy behind Marquis Phillips wines is to develop rich fruit depth, structure and distinctive varietal
characteristics.

is sweet and mouth-filling. Look for flavors of patisserie, chocolate sauce, and a hint of aniseed liqueur. It
carries gentle defining tannins on finish. Serve at room temperature in wide goblets with stuffed pork rolls,
tenderloin tips in garlic sauce, and pork ribs in garlic sauce. Best from 2010 through 2012.
Staccato - Argentina
Staccato is an undertaking began by the Caligiore family that is dedicated exclusively to the organic
production of grapes and wines. Started in 2001 as the result of a project integrating a clear responsible social
business policy and a personal goal of the founders, the Caligiore family, it is a self-made business, focused on
concrete personal objectives in every aspect of the endeavor. Created from grapes from estate vineyards more than
900 meters above sea level in the areas of Maipu Lujan de Cuyo en el Alto valle del Rio Mendoza and under
certification for organic standards for by the O.I.A (Organizacion Internacional Agropecuaria), their products
are most definitely "hand crafted".
FEATURED WINE: 2008 Malbec Cabernet Sauvignon Mendoza
Made from 60% Malbec and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from a mixture of vines that range in age from 8 years old to 25+
year old and true "old vines" that are over 75 years old. Staccato is a musical term that means "short, vibrant
notes"; this blend embodies that expression with strong, intense (yet lithe) flavors. The wine pours a brilliant
ruby with purple tones. Young floral aromas combine with red fruits on a spicy background. Medium structured in
the mouth this wine exhibits a sweet and fruity attack, balanced by crisp acidity and smooth tannins. Dark cherry
flavors are balanced with an undertoned blackberry note. Drink now through 2012. Pair with grilled meats, roast
beef & hearty sauces.
Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges - Portugal
Founded in 1884 by brothers Antonio and Francisco, the Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges soon became one of the main
national winemaking companies. Taking into account that Portuguese wines can only establish themselves in the
world by means of their excellence, Borges has always been committed to quality in its production, today exporting
to more than fifty countries of the five continents. The relaunching of the Lello brand in 2006 has become a
tribute to innovation: because of the Douro region, where wine has gained a new meaning; because of the family
name that gave a new sense to the wine culture and because of the bottle, allusive to the invention of typography
that spread words and culture throughout the world.
FEATURED WINE: 2008 Lello Branco Douro DOC
This is an elegant, fresh wine made from the typical Portuguese grape varieties Malvasia-Fina, Gouveio, Vosinho
and Rabigato. Lello has an intense fruity aroma with mineral notes thanks to cultivation on the mountaintops where
it is relatively cool. Early harvest and the specific character of the grape varieties used also contribute to the
fruitiness and well balanced acidity of this wine. Lello will not develop further in the bottle; It is best to drink
it young. It is a good accompaniment to grilled fish or a dish of fruits de mer or can be enjoyed on its own.
Dona Paula - Argentina
Argentina is regarded as one of the most dynamic wine-producing nations in the world, and possibly the most
important wine-producing region in South America. Only four countries in the world produce more wine than
Argentina. Considerable investments (much of which has come from famous French, Italian and California wine
producers) have been made in new vineyards and winemaking technology in the past several years, which along with
recent plantings of more premium varieties of grapes, has made Argentina much more competitive internationally.
The Mendoza region is the most important region in Argentina's wine industry. And Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc,
among other Bordeaux varietals grown here, reigns supreme.
FEATURED WINE: 2008 Estate Sauvignon Blanc Tupungato
Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Dona Paula's Finca Los Cerezos, located in Central Tupungato in the Uco
Valley. At Dona Paula our vineyards and wines have always been managed using Sustainable Agriculture practices.
The wine pours a pale straw color. Aromas of lime and grapefruit zest should be immediately noticeable on the
nose. The palate is juicy and firmly built, with good definition and energy to the flavors of lime, grapefruit,
tropical fruits and peppery herbs. A mineral pungency lifts and extends the finish of this clean and brisk
Sauvignon. Drink now through 2011. Ideal as an aperitif, with seafood and fish.

Trinitas Cellars - Napa, California
Trinitas Cellars celebrates the connection among sun, soil and humanity by working closely with its grower
society throughout Northern California to source a broad range of varietals from the regions where climate and
soil conditions are most favorable. Small quantities of these exceptional-quality grapes are then handcrafted
into an approachable California-style wine to be enjoyed as an aperitif or with food. The Busch family balances
their resources to grow their business and benefit the community and their faith, by honoring and serving God in
all they do. Trinitas, the Latin word for Trinity, is the fundamental principle of Christianity. Trinity also
symbolizes Sun, Soil & Humanity, which are the three ingredients evoking the perfect wine. It further reflects
the triumvirate of the Wine Country lifestyle, Meritage Resort & Spa, and Trinitas wines.
FEATURED WINE: 2006 Old Vine Zinfandel Contra Costa County
Three different blocks of ancient vines, 85-90 years old, from the sandy soil (Delhi sandy loam) surrounding the
little Bay Area town of Oakley in Contra Costa County provide the fruit for this blend of Zinfandel (87%), Petite
Sirah (8%), Mataro (4%), and Alicante Bouschet (1%). These "old vines" produce a mere 1.5 to 2.5 tons of fruit per
acre, showcasing the classic "Oakley" flavors of dusty raspberries, white pepper, and chocolate nuances. Overall
this wine is zesty and briary, with smoky wild berry aromas and huckleberry, cracked pepper and medium-bodied sage
flavors that finish with slightly rustic tannins. Drink now through 2014.
McClean Vineyards - Templeton, California
The McClean dream began many years ago at a wine tasting class at Cal Poly Pomona in 1978 where Mr. and Mrs.
McClean discovered not only did they share their love for each other but also their appreciation for wine,
especially the red varietals. As they grew in their life together, it wasn't until 1993 that the McCleans were
able to move to the Paso Robles area to this magical parcel of land. The property had an old almond orchard on it,
and the vegetation and undergrowth was so thick and lush they realized the property must have great potential.
They decided to plant a rare registered root stalk of Syrah which took off with great vigor. Ken Volk, the owner
of Wild Horse Winery in Templeton at that time, drove by and noticed their first year's crop. He walked the
vineyard for hours and was so impressed he offered the McCleans their first contract. After the harvest he wanted
to make their vineyard the backbone of his Syrah program. They knew then that they were able to produce special
Syrah grapes. Since they had such an abundance of premium-quality fruit, they realized it was only a matter of
time until they came out with their own label. The idea for McClean Vineyards was formed. Currently McClean
Vineyards is producing a very hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind private reserve Syrah and Syrah Rose.
FEATURED WINE: 2005 Syrah Estate Private Reserve Paso Robles
Made from 100% Syrah that spent 24 months in French and American barrels. It carries rich aromas of blackberry,
raspberry and gentle oak overtones. Generous currants and purple plum fruits yield nicely. On the palate it is
delicate and smooth with crisp, lingering finish. It pairs well with all types of occasions from backyard
barbecues to the elegant dining experiences. Drink now through 2011.
Wilridge Winery - Seattle, Washington
Wilridge is a small, family winery founded in 1988 and run in the European tradition. Owners Lysle Wilhelmi and
Paul Beveridge live near the winery in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle with their two sons, Mack and Liam.
Paul's parents, Bob and Berta Beveridge, live in the apartment above the winery. Winemaking at Wilridge is a
family and neighborhood affair, with relatives and friends pitching in. Paul is winemaker, Lysle is in charge of
sales, Mack and Liam handle barrel washing and grandpa provides "quality control sampling". The plan is to stay
small and focused on quality, like many of the small wineries in Europe. There are no employees and volunteers
that want to "get their feet wet" are welcome to help during harvest and bottling.
FEATURED WINE: 2008 Pinot Grigio Yakima Valley
Made from 100% Pinot Grigio from Two Coyote Vineyard in the Yakima Valley. The wine was fermented in stainless
steel using Northern Italian low oxygen winemaking techniques to preserve freshness and flavor. The resulting wine
is crisp, clean & fresh - perfectly Italian in style. The 2008 Wilridge Pinot Grigio has wonderful crisp citrus
notes on the nose with mellow lemon custard and a hint of vanilla on the finish. A superb summertime wine that
pairs well with light fare including oysters, chicken, or nothing at all. Drink now through 2012.
Airfield Estates - Prosser, Washington
The Airfield Estates story begins preceding World War II, when the Olympic Transport Company established an air
base at the foothills of the Rattlesnake Mountains near Sunnyside, Washington. Seeing the agricultural promise of
the location, H. Lloyd Miller purchased the air base at auction and for four generations the Miller family has
farmed the surrounding area. Airfield has been a pioneer in the wine grape industry, planting its first premium
vines in 1968 with most of that being sold to Chateau St. Michelle until recently. With their newly constructed
winery located in Prosser, their passion for excellence now extends into wine making. Airfield Estates takes great
pride in the quality of fruit sourced from their 750 acre vineyard.
FEATURED WINE: 2009 Unoaked Chardonnay Yakima Valley
Made from 100% Chardonnay from 13 year old vines. After fermentation, the Chardonnay was left in stainless steel
tanks until bottling in February of this year. The result is a clear, pale straw yellow Chardonnay. It has
abundant aromas of honeysuckle, melon, and tropical fruit. On the palate this wine exemplifies exceptional
varietal characteristics. It is dry, crisp, and refreshing with a nice round mouthfeel and showcases citrus
flavors of grapefruit and lemon-lime. This wine is enjoyable on its own or pairs nicely with seafood and
pan-Asian cuisine. Drink now through 2012.

Le Chateau des Roques - France
In Vacqueyras sits Chateau des Roques and its splendid vineyard of 90 acres. The owner, Pierre Seroul, and the
winemaker Andre Fregiere shared their passion to produce great wines by working hard to improve their wine making
equipment as well as the winery facilities. Once just a Cotes-du-Rhone village, the wine of Vacqueyras made its
mark and in 1990, gaining its own appellation. The wine is somewhat similar to its northern neighbor, Gigondas,
and occasionally even more rustic. Vacqueyras wine gives off the flavors of the earth where the vines grow - wild
herbs, spice and rocky soil. Like other Southern Rhone wine, Grenache is the main player here, and a minimum of
50% of the varietal is required, allowing the blend more room for varietals like Syrah and Mourvedre. Often found
for good prices compared to neighbors Gigondas and Chateauneuf-du-Pape , these wines are perfect for hearty meat
stews and herb-based dishes.
FEATURED WINE: 2007 Vacqueyras Hameau des Roques
Made from 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 20% Mourvedre. The wine pours an inky ruby. Deep, youthfully brooding
aromas of cherry and dark berry skin, licorice and smoky Indian spices permeate the nose. On the palate the wine
is a touch hard on entry but gains sweetness and flesh with air, offering sweet cassis and kirsch flavors.
Finishes with admirable persistence and an echo of bitter cherry. This is built to age and will last beautifully
through 2012. Only 800 cases imported.
Melville Winery - Lompoc, California
Melville is an estate driven winery with a focused commitment to producing Burgundian and Northern Rhone
varietals with the utmost respect for their history as well as the site on which they are grown. Located in the
center of the Santa Rita Hills appellation, in Santa Barbara County, the estate currently has 85 acres planted to
vineyards. The climate here is significantly impacted by its proximity to the ocean, and marked by consistent
morning and evening fog and steady afternoon winds. These cooling trends are not only perfectly suited for pinot
noir, syrah and chardonnay, but they also serve to prolong the growing season allowing for heightened varietal
flavor intensity.
FEATURED WINE: 2007 Estate Syrah Verna’s
Made from 100% Melville estate Syrah from their ranch in Los Alamos and is composed of six different clones.
Immediately noticeable are heady spice components of dried herb, anise, white pepper, lavender, pumpkin pie and
tamari that juxtapose against notes of black cherry, dark tropical fruits and purple beets. Aromas redolent of
sweet barbeque, gunpowder and Worcestershire sauce play with a floral perfume of honeysuckle and wisteria.
Texturally, the wine is velvety, savory and streamlined finishing with both gumption and grace. This wine is a
pleasure to drink either by itself or when served with grilled meats, roasts, pasta with red sauces or hearty
cheeses. Drink now through 2014. Only 1876 cases produced.
Di Stefano Winery - Woodinville, Washington
Di Stefano Winery is a family-owned winery lead by winemaker and owner Mark Newton. Mark, a mechanical and
nuclear engineer by training, began his wine making career listening to a French Cabaret singer with his Father at
the Domain Chandon winery in the winter of 1983. He still is not sure if it was the wine or the women, but
following that day, he decided to go into the wine business. After taking a short course in sparkling wine making
at UC Davis and spending countless hours in some of the finer sparkling wine cellars in California, Mark set the
course to produce a traditional Champagne-style wine. Sparkling wines were made up through 1990, when the winery
shifted its focus to red and white Bordeaux style wines.
FEATURED WINE: 2008 Sauvignon Blanc Columbia Valley
Made from 92% Sauvignon Blanc and 8% Semillon. Showing great depth in the nose, citrus, powdered sugar and orange
blossoms are integrated with pears, white peaches, and green apple. A touch of lemon peel and lime lingers in the
background. Fresh, crisp, acidic and viscous, this wine can be enjoyed anytime, especially with your favorite
seafood dish. Drink now through 2011. Just 1200 cases produced.

Nashwauk Vineyards - Australia
Nashwauk is a new brand created by Kaesler Wines from its recently acquired McLaren Vale vineyard. Kaesler's
first wine made outside its Barossa Valley home maintains its winemakers' criteria using estate grown fruit of
predominantly old vine plantings. The search to find the right vineyard took some time before a 20ha property on
Neill Road in McLaren Vale, Seaview sub region was bought in 2005. The 2006 vintage release is Nashwauk's market
debut. Nashwauk wines are made in small quantities (volumes outlined on wine labels) and the brand will probably
peak at about 5000 dozen a year. Creating a name for the McLaren Vale brand took time. After months of
deliberation, inspiration was drawn from the undulating hills and magnificent view down the Fleurieu Peninsula
where the cool waters of the Gulf of St Vincent wash the white sandy beaches. Nashwauk is the name of a cargo
and migrant ship, built in Nova Scotia, which met an early grave in the waters off the Fleurieu, near Moana Beach,
in 1855.
FEATURED WINE: 2006 Shiraz McLaren Vale
Made from 100% Shiraz. The fruit was fermented in stainless steel for seven days, followed by 12 months
maturation in one, two and three year old French barriques. The wine pours a glass-coating purple color. This
is a very rich wine with blackberry, plum, aniseed, chocolate coated coffee cake & lots of spice. The texture
is like liquid velvet with fine smooth tannins. Big luscious but beautifully balanced. It will offer a drinking
window extending from 2010 to 2017. 91 Points Robert Parker & 91 Points James Halliday.
Bodegas Pinuaga - Spain
Pinuaga is a family owned estate, with experience in the wine industry for over 200 years. They have regained
cultural heritage and traditional ethnic values of Castillian winemaking. They are devoted with a passion to the
creation of wines with a singular taste and style: the synthesis of modernity and tradition. The Pinuaga family
has regained the cultural heritage, the traditional ethnic values of Castilian winemaking and the artisan care of
the vineyard combining them with the ultimate technology. They are devoted with a passion to the creation of
quality wines, seeking a personal flavor and style that reflect the true character of their land. They have the
most beautiful vineyard: 40 hectares of Tempranillo (35 years old). Many of their vines are Pie Franco or
un-grafted vines (some of very few in the region).
FEATURED WINE: 2005 Tempranillo Vino de la Tierra de Castilla
Made from 100% Tempranillo. Pinuaga has a beautiful deep red color with purple tones. The aromas of this wine are
very intense, from floral notes to very ripe strawberries, black plums, spices (black pepper, thyme, licorice...)
and underbrush aromas. In the mouth it is very pleasant with intense and firm tannins but without being
aggressive. The wine is mouth filling, bold and deeply rich, with a phenomenal complexity. It has a very
expressive, long finish that invites another sip. A perfect wine for all kinds of Mediterranean meals,
especially delicious with pasta, meats and of course Spanish cheeses!! An expressive wine you are sure to
enjoy! Still a bit tightly wound, it should blossom nicely with another 23 years of bottle age and drink
well through 2020.
Patient Cottat - France
Situated in the small village of Verdigny in the Sancerre region, the Fournier family has been making wine for
many generations. The estate has grown from 5 hectares in 1950 to almost 30 hectares today, divided over the
appellations of Menetou Salon, Pouilly-Fume and Sancerre. The improvement made in vinification techniques and
the permanent concerns about quality result in well-balanced wines of great diversity.
FEATURED WINE: 2007 Sancerre Vieilles Vignes
Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc from vines 30-35 years old. Pale yellow-gold in color. It has spicy, mineral-driven
aromas of lime zest and lemongrass, with a sneaky note of honeysuckle gaining strength with air. Taut,
mineral-laced citrus and pear flavors pick up a weightier, faintly honeyed quality in the middle and show a
suave floral quality. Very complex now but this should be even better in another year or two. The finish is
focused, brisk and very long. This wine is ready now and should be consumed by the end of 2011. Perfect as an
aperitif or with smoked fish. 91 Points Stephen Tanzer.

Cavallotto - Italy
On the periphery of the Castiglione Falletto township, centre of the Barolo area, crowning the Bricco Boschis
hill, one comes upon the Tenuta Vitivinicola Cavallotto (the Cavallotto Vineyards) of 25 hectares of which 23
spread of vineyards. Cavallotto Estate has been in the family for five generations and in 1948, the brothers
Olivio and Gildo, who were continuing the work of their grandfather Giacomo, their father Giuseppe and their
uncle Marcello, became the first people of the area to dedicate themselves to the production and trading of wines.
These wines were obtained solely from the grapes of their own vineyards. Olivio's offspring, Laura, Giuseppe, and
Alfio continue to produce wine which is made exclusively from the estate's grapes and from the transformation of
these they obtain DOC and DOCG: Barolo, Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Nebbiolo Langhe, Freisa Langhe,
Grignolino Piedmonte, Pinot Langhe, Chardonnay Langhe.
FEATURED WINE: 2004 Bricco Boschis Barolo DOCG
Made from 100% Nebbiolo coming from the cru Bricco Boschis. This fresh Barolo blossoms with the essence of red
raspberries, flowers and spices. The taste is sweet, layered and totally irresistible. The ripe red fruit is
incredibly primary, and this wine is years away from offering its finest drinking, but it is already very
impressive at this stage. This is an especially refined, elegant vintage for this wine. Anticipated maturity:
2012-2024. Just 1,990 cases made. 93 Points Robert Parker.
Soter Vineyards - Carlton, Oregon
At its core, Soter Vineyards is the culmination of many years of study and preparation. Ever since he came to
the Napa Valley in 1975, Tony Soter has been fascinated with the process of grape growing and winemaking. He
brings to Soter Vineyards the experience of over 30 harvests, the erudition and attention to detail reflected in
countless wines, and most importantly, the desire to make great wines from very specific places on his own terms.
A symphony, half a lifetime in meticulous composition, is now in performance. Apart from being a culmination,
Soter Vineyards is also a beginning. Soter Vineyards is a family enterprise; with the eventual help of their
children, Oregon natives Tony and Michelle Soter hope to establish a legacy of august, estate-bottled wines, in
the fashion of the great family domaines of Burgundy.
FEATURED WINE: 2006 "Beacon Hill" Pinot Noir Yamhill Carlton District
Made from 100% Beacon Hill Pinot Noir. All of these grapes were farmed without pesticides or residual herbicides,
and were certified as sustainable by Oregon's L.I.V.E. program. The grapes were vinified in small, open-top
fermenters using classic Burgundian techniques. The wine was aged 15 months in 60% new French oak barrels and 40%
neutral French oak barrels, all from Burgundian coopers. The resulting wine is likely the most forward and
open-knit version Soter Vineyards has produced. It has the vineyards' bright cranberry fruit, accented with
raspberries, almonds, rose petal, and balsam. The tannins are rounder and softer than previous vintages, but the
wine's considerable stuffing leaves no doubt that this will be another star for the cellar. Production: 1307
cases. Drink now through 2016. 92 Points Robert Parker.
Ladoucette - France
The largest and most famous Pouilly-Fume vineyards have been in the hands of the Comte Lafond and Ladoucette
families since 1787 when the Comte Lafond purchased the estate from the illegitimate daughter of the French king,
Louis XV. The estate is now owned by Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, a descendant of the Comte Lafond, and Pouilly
Fume has earned a reputation as one of the world's great white wines. After taking over Ladoucette in 1972, the
Baron extended his activities to Sancerre, Chablis, Vouvray and Chinon. Today, the Baron produces outstanding
Loire Valley wines under the de Ladoucette, Marc Bredif, La Poussie, Regnard and Baron Patrick labels. Many of
the wines, including the Pouilly Fume de Ladoucette, Baron de L and Comte Lafond, are considered to be the finest
examples of their type.
FEATURED WINE: 2005 De Ladoucette Pouilly-Fume
Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc out of Pouilly-Fume Controlee. Purchased by the Comte Lafond, an ancestor of the
current owner, Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, Chateau du Nozet and its surrounding vineyards have a reputation for
producing the finest Pouilly-Fume. The vineyards are in Pouilly-Fume Controlee, which includes Pouilly-Sur-Loire,
Saint-Andelin and Tracy at the eastern end of the Loire Valley (including the vineyard of the Chateau du Nozet
estate). Both clay and limestone (Kimmeridgian marnes on fossilized limestone) influence the delicate
characteristics in Ladoucette Pouilly-Fume. Pale golden-green color. Considerable intensity on the nose. It has an
exceptional full range of floral, exotic and citrus fruit aromas such as white blossoms, hawthorn, broom and
white nettles and grapefruit. These notes are enhanced and strengthened by the mineral note of gunflint
(flint stone heated by the sun). The flavor is pleasant and lively, tempered by a fruity roundness with notes
of pear, green apples and citrus fruits, which boost the mineral and stony hardness of gunflint. The finish brings
to mind a pleasant lemony freshness. Drink now up to 2011. 91 Points Robert Parker.

Familia Zuccardi - Argentina
Familia Zuccardi is situated in the province of Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes some 650m above sea
level. The area possesses excellent conditions for the production of high quality fruit. It was founded in 1963
by Alberto Zuccardi, father of the current Director, Jose Alberto Zuccardi. Alberto was a concrete pipe and
irrigation specialist and saw the wine making potential of arid land, which others regarded as beyond the pale.
His son Jose Alberto shares his father's love of innovation and has experimented with numerous grape varieties.
The wines reflect this unique climate developing excellent aromas, ripe, rich fruit, and complexity and giving
consistent quality from year to year. Jose Alberto believes that vineyard management is the key to the ultimate
success of the wines.
FEATURED WINE: 2007 Vida Orgánica Brut
Made from 100% organically grown Chardonnay. Poured in the glass the wine is clear and bright with greenish colors
reflecting on its overall pale yellow appearance. The yeasts which are used integrate perfectly well with the
varietal properties of the base wine, providing a delicate harmony that gives the bouquet great properties that
get more complex during its development in the bottle. On the palate this sparkling wine is pleasant, fresh and
velvety in mouth; it drinks easily. Its aroma and its flavor are very well supplemented, resulting in remarkable
harmony. This wine makes the perfect aperitif. Drink now through 2011.
