MONTHLY WINE CLUBS - FEATURED WINES FOR JUNE 2009
Indaba - South Africa
"Indaba" is the Zulu word for "a meeting of the minds," or a traditional gathering of tribal leaders for a sharing of ideas. The brand was created as
a celebration of the democratization process in South Africa, and from its inception, the wines have conveyed the spirit of South Africa to American
consumers. A portion of the proceeds from the Indaba wines supports a scholarship for formerly disenfranchised South Africans who are interested in
wine-related careers. Through growth of the brand and via the affiliated scholarship, Indaba is proud to be a part of the positive changes that are
altering the face of South Africa's wine industry.

possible to grow high-quality grapes. The company is divided into two wineries, which combine tradition and technology to create wines of excellent
character. The 33 degree south latitude is a special geographic point as the climate of this zone is characterized by a large swing in temperatures.

Napa Valley. Committed to quality in all aspects of wine making, they focus on growing ultra-premium grapes and crafting them into the highest quality wines.
In Piedmont and other regions of northern Italy, the name Piola was used to describe a place where villagers and visitors would gather and dine on simple
food and the local unsophisticated but witty wines, many times straight out of the barrel. The name has also been used by Italian immigrants to describe
something that is cool, pleasing, or enjoyable.

This AVA has several unique traits that produce superior wine grapes. It is bounded on the South by the Columbia River, has ideal south-facing slopes, warm
temperatures that allow for ripe grapes and early harvest, and low rainfall, which gives total control of watering to the grape grower. Currently there are
nearly 8000 acres in wine grape production accounting for roughly 30% of Washington State wine grape production.
FEATURED WINE: 2003 Estate Syrah Horse Heaven Hills Aldercreek Vineyard
Made from 100% Estate Syrah. This wine is like a good Italian red, it needs to breathe! With the heavy and dark aromas of blackberry and currants, with a
touch of licorice, all surrounded by a gentle reminder of oak barrel aging, you know you have a handful here!! The wine is unfiltered and un-fined and aged
so you may see sediment. Sediment is usually an indication of a wine that was not only made many years ago but made with extraordinary care to maintain its
quality and character over time. This bitter tasting but harmless residue is the byproduct of the application of little or no filtration in the winemaking
process, thus enabling a wine's personality to more fully develop in the bottle. Besides allowing a wine to breathe and open up, the process of decanting a
wine will clear the wine of sediment when it is carefully poured into a separate vessel. When preparing to decant a wine that contains sediment, allow the
bottle to stand undisturbed in advance for about 24 hours, if possible, to allow the microscopic solids to settle at the bottom of the bottle. Be mindful
not to shake or vibrate the bottle before uncorking it. This will stir up the sediment and make decanting more difficult. When ready to decant, slowly pour
the wine into a clean decanter vessel and closely observe the wine passing through the neck of the bottle. As soon as the wine inside the neck shows sediment,
stop pouring. Sommeliers often place a lit candle under the neck to make it easier to see the wine the instant it changes clarity.

Domaine Louis Moreau - France
Domaine Louis Moreau was born from the passion of a family settled in Chablis in 1814. As soon as the late 19th century, the love of this family for
great wines brought her to purchase plots in Grands Crus and Premiers Crus. Nowadays, proprietor of parcels in 5 of the Grands Crus, including a monopole,
the Domaine works many plots within the appellations of Petit Chablis, Chablis and Premiers Crus, in full respect of the environment. The most prestigious

Antonio Sanguineti - Italy
As happens sometimes in Italian families, there was a disagreement about what to do with the Sanguineti family's land. This happened while Antonio was
still a young man and, in the end, it wound up being sold. Despite his love of wine, Antonio was left without a vineyard. But the accomplished young
winemaker, dubbed 'Il Maestro' by his colleagues, was not to be deterred. He parlayed his wine knowledge into consultant work, and now trades his expertise
for the right to select the best grapes from two wonderful estates. Without the ongoing overhead of a vineyard, Antonio is able to produce truly outstanding
wines.

Bodega Enrique Foster - Argentina
In the center of the world's premier location for Malbec - Lujan De Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina, Bodega Enrique Foster has built a state-of-the-art gravity-
flow winery surrounded by 80-year old vines. Their objective is nothing less than to produce the best Malbec in Argentina - which is to say the best in the
world. No expense has been spared, from the latest vineyard management to the stainless steel equipment and the new French oak barrels in the underground
cellars. At each stage of winemaking, cranes and a multi-level freight elevator combine to move the wine without pumping, thus avoiding its detrimental
effects on wine. To achieve gravity flow on the flat terrain of central Mendoza, they built a moveable overhead I-beam crane which could lift the crushed
grapes up and over the fermentation tanks, a deep cellar for the barrels, and a multi-stage freight elevator to raise the aged wine above the blending tanks
and bottling equipment. In order to fit this equipment into the traditional Mendoza winery design of three equal naves, they raised the roof of the central
nave, creating the profile of a church - entirely appropriate for the worship of the grape.
FEATURED WINE: 2004 Malbec Limited Edition
Numbered, limited edition of estate-grown and bottled 100% Malbec. Highly selected grapes from old vines with a restricted production not exceeding 1 1/2 lbs.
per vine. 100% aged in new French oak for 14 to 15 months and in bottles for 8 additional months. The 2004 was the product of a cooler year and shows a bit
of mint and pepper in its nose. It is a more structured effort with good depth, plenty of spicy, black cherry fruit, excellent balance, and a fruit-filled
finish. Cellar it for four years and drink it from 2012 to 2025. Or if you can not wait, decant for at least one hour before serving. 92 Points Robert
Parker.
Fidelitas Wines - Benton City, Washington
Fidelitas is a family owned winery faithful to Cabernet Sauvignon, loyal to Bordeaux winemaking techniques and true to Washington State's Columbia Valley
terroir. With over 20 years of experience under his belt, Fidelitas owner and winemaker, Charlie Hoppes, has gained a depth of understanding few others will
ever achieve. He's crafted more wines in a single vintage than most winemakers will touch in a lifetime. He knows his growers. He knows their vines. Most
important, he knows how to get his hands on exceptional fruit and transform it into something uniquely his own. He's a roll-up-your-sleeves type of guy, fair
and authentic-and that authenticity comes through in the wines he crafts. Faithful. Loyal. True. That's Charlie. And that's Fidelitas.
FEATURED WINE: 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain Ciel du Cheval Vineyard
The 2006 harvest had the ideal growing season consisting of dry weather, warm days and cool nights, throughout the whole summer. Harvest began early with a
cool spell in September that resulted in slowing down production, which provided more "hang-time" for flavors to develop. All the fruit for the vintage was
hand picked and sorted in the vineyard. Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit was de-stemmed and crushed directly to a small fermentation tank where the
wines were punched down three times daily. Average primary fermentation was seven days in length. Upon completion of fermentation, the wines were gently
pressed off and were put into barrels immediately. Once fermentation was complete in barrel, the wine was put through malolactic fermentation immediately.
While aging in oak barrels, the wines were racked quarterly to naturally clarify the wine. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Big, ripe and round, offering
a generous mouthful of black currant, blueberry and cola flavors that keep pumping through the long, expressive finish. The tannins are present, but
submerged under the richness. Best from 2010 through 2018. 189 cases made. 94 Points Wine Spectator.
Reilly's Cottage Wines - Australia
The Clare Valley is recognized for producing some of Australia's finest wines and so it was a natural choice for Tom and Heidi Reilly to establish
Reilly's Cottage Wines. They began operations in 1993 as a small producer of fine quality hand-made wines. They make Reilly's wines on their premises at
Mintaro in the Clare Valley using grapes from their non-irrigated vineyard. The 75-year-old vines are located just outside Watervale and depend solely on
rainfall, yielding limited quantities of small delicious berries. The grapes are hand-picked and fermented in open vats, prolonging contact of skins and
juice. The fermented wine is then hand basket-pressed. Reilly's Cottage Wines' range of award-winning wines includes Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz,
Tawny Port and Riesling.
FEATURED WINE: NV Sparkling Mad Shiraz Clare Valley
Reilly's sparkling Mad Shiraz is crafted from quality, dry grown, hand picked fruit from their Watervale vineyard in the heart of Clare Valley. Twelve months
maturation in America oak barrels prior to secondary fermentation, has produced a delicious sparking Shiraz. The wine is deep violet with a frothy mousse.
Highly perfumed nose offers a sexy array of red and dark berry scents. Tangy, sharply focused raspberry and blackberry flavors are brightened by cracked
pepper and vanilla. Exotic, fruity and fresher than most examples of this style. Perfect for toasting any special occasion. 88 Points Stephen Tanzer.

FEATURED WINE: NV Cuvee 20 Brut Russian River Valley
Celebrating twenty years of winemaking excellence, J Cuvee 20 proudly displays an exceptional, stylish assemblage from our best cool-climate vineyard sites
in the Russian River Valley. Made from 49% Chardonnay, 49% Pinot Noir, and 2% Pinot Meunier. The J Cuvee 20 Brut gracefully opens up with crisp lemon peel,
honeysuckle and delicate yeast aromas. Upon entry, these notes are followed by a mix of Fuji apple, grapefruit and a sweet hint of angel food cake. The mid-palate
is interlaced with toast, caramel and almond flavors. The acidity adds just enough liveliness and the citrus zest leads to a lingering, warm pear and lush finish.
This wine pairs beautifully with a Kumamoto oyster topped with Tsar Nicoulai Caviar. 90 Points Wine Enthusiast.
